The Morning Survey
When walking the beach during nesting season (May, June & July), all participants should walk near the water line, looking for adult tracks.
In Hatchling Season (August onwards), participants should spread out on the beach, taking care to check the back of the beach for disorientated hatchling tracks.
As well as turtle tracks and nests, we should record evidence of night-time disturbance on the beach (vehicle tracks, beach fires, campers etc.) and any interference with the nest cages.
Every morning survey shift must be recorded in the book or on the Survey Sheets with the following details:

- Date
- Names of Participants
- Start & Finish Times
- Number of people informed & their nationalities (keep a tally as you go along)
- The weather conditions:
- Skies (Clear, Light Overcast, Heavy Overcast or Completely Overcast)
- Precipitation (None, Drizzle, Rain, Heavy Rain or Storm)
- Wind (No Wind, Breeze, Medium, Strong or Gale)
- Wind Direction (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W or NW)
- Surf on beach (Calm, Light, Moderate, Rough or Swell)
