A busy couple of weeks with our first two nests hatching and another nest found.
We have had hatchlings emerge nearly every day this last week from two of our nests, so we are all very excited that we are starting to see these beautiful animals start on their amazing journey.
We are still finding nests, so our work is far from over and and members of the team are busy every day searching for more. It is also a busy time for shading and protecting the nests as they prepare to leave their home for last 7 weeks and move out in the sun.
This is where we need help...
At present we are using old beach mats, olive shading material and remnants of cloth our volunteers have lying around to shade our nests. This is running low. If anyone has any old material/beach mats/tarpaulins that could donate, we would very much appreciate it. The only alternative would be for us to buy shading materials and as we receive very limited funding, this is almost impossible for us to do. I must stress, we are NOT looking for funding, rather any materials that could be used to shade the nests.
If you can help, please contact us HERE, and someone will get back to you.
GOOD NEWS
Nest A02, the first nest to hatch this year will be having an excavation on Saturday 16th August. It is near THE GRAND BAY HOTEL in Kolymbari. See the picture for location and more details.
